Who we are
AHF is a research organization and nonprofit publisher dedicated to documenting the history, culture, and heritage of Aruba, the Dutch Caribbean, and related Caribbean and Dutch overseas former colonies.
Research Focus
The Foundation’s work focuses on the islands of the Dutch Caribbean, while also engaging with the histories of other former colonies in the Caribbean and Dutch overseas former colonies, including Suriname.
Our Approach
- We draw on archival sources and academic literature to build a strong historical foundation.
- We conduct oral interviews to record, preserve, and interpret personal experiences from Aruba, the wider Dutch Caribbean, and related communities across the Caribbean and Dutch overseas heritage landscape.
- We use a journalistic method to connect documented history with lived experience, creating publications that are both informative and
